Discovery Day Camp

Our Discovery Day Camp during Spring Break 2017 was a tremendous success!

At your request, we expanded the day camp this year to run Monday through Friday

of Spring Break andwe ended the week with a blast with our annual Bike Rodeo

(moved  from its usual autumn date) on Saturday.

We had the opportunity to work with a lot of the kids from our neighborhood

and surrounding areas during the week.  We estimate that about half of the children

attending were from our church family, and the remainder were

our welcome guests from the neighborhood.  All of the children were fed breakfast

and lunch each day and enjoyed a structured program of active games, fun songs,

a puppet show, a Bible lesson, and a craft each day.  This year our crafts were very popular

with the kids, as we made things that they could actually play with

(like harmonicas and pom pom catapults)!  Although the main focus of this event

is not evangelism, but rather ministering to the physical needs

of and loving on the kids by providing them with meals and structured activities

while their parents are at work during spring break, we were overjoyed and humbled

when 4 of the children approached us to talk about asking Jesus into their hearts and

subsequently made professions of faith during the camp!

We are grateful for all of our volunteers for their tireless work to help make this event

a reality every year. ,and for our generous donors who make it possible to offer this opportunity

to families each spring at no cost to them.  We look forward to

another successful Discovery day camp next year during Spring Break!
